Car Speakers in front of Cerb

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a good set of speaker drive units to put in the front doors of a cerbie? I went out an brought a pair of infinity units, but the depth of them meant they snagged against the back panel of the door interior.

Wondered what you people out there are using, and any recommendations for hifi in the car.

I had my setup done by Carl Baker at Car and Bike. MB Quarts 6" front, 4" rear and with twin 6" woofers in the helmet hole. The original Quart install sounded good with a cheapy head unit, but now with a Clarion head unit that Carl recommended installed, it sounds seriously good.

Be warned with the MB Quartz speakers that they come with a huge crossover. I couldn't figure out where I could put them.

I used a pair of Focals, they do a slim version. The crossover fits in a recess in the door panel quite well, and I mounted the tweeters in the doors above the door open button.

Great quality speakers too.

I'll 'thumbs-up' the MB Quartz set up too. I kept the std rear speakers, with 8" quartz's in the doors and 2 little tweeters tucked up at the edge of the dash near the doors. The crossover is cable tied to a chassis rail up on the passenger side behind the dash

The RCEs have a separate cross over, I'm not sure if the DKEs do though. As for where to fit the crossovers - I left that to Carl, although I do know the crossover for the woofers is sat on the tank with all the other electricals. He did mention tucking the crossovers away for the rear speakers is a bit harder to do.

After Andys advice sometime ago, I too fitted Focals. Got mine off ebay brand new for £100 from Australia. Should have been £250. Cant remember though whether mine were the normal ones rather than the slim version. However, they sound awesome..nearly as good as the exhausts.

I'd have thought there was a lot of room behind the rear seats.
