not cheap but also not sure if you got to wire them into the bike of if they work from other batterys such as AA's

With the amount of current you'd need, I'd say they'd need powering from the bike. ISTR the heated grips on my ST11 take 1.5A on full blast, I guess gloves would need something similar to make a difference... even 0.75A at 12V (ie 9W, or 4.5W per glove) would decimate NiCads or Duracells...
