I had a problem with my system last week and after somw advice from a friend I thought I had cracked it but now I seem to have a whole new set of issues -

Running XP Pro and office 2003 Pro on a good system.

Original problem was freezing on shut down and when attempting to reply to email message (using outlook)

I have uninstalled and reinstalled office run system works and registry mechanic to make sure everything is as it should be and they both come back clear.

Now when i open word i get the small box in the middle of the screen showing word opening and then nothing, this has also stopped my outlook working again.

Any ideas for a fix? or do i need to buy a new copy of office?

have you installed a new anti-virus program lately?

if so you could try and disable this and see if you still have problems with word/outlook

Hmm - bugger. A/V software can and usually is the main culprit.

I'm sure someone else will be along shortly with other ideas...

good luck

Sounds like you have a corrupted template file that Word and Outlook use to open the applications. Close Outlook and Word and find the file called Normal.dot using the windows explorer search function. Then delete the Normal.dot file. Word will recreate it when you next open Windows or Outlook
