Knowledge of PH i need help with an Excel file and printing that i am hoping someone has done before or knows how to.
I want to print off around 50 sheets of the same document but on each documment i want a unnique number to increment by one on the next sheet that is printed.

e.g sheet 1 to be printed is 10001, the next sheet to be printed will be 10002, the next 10003 etc.

Can anyone tell me how to do this as i don't want to do one sheet manually, change the number and then print that off, then change that and then print.

thanks
DJ

Hmm, not sure you can do this direct from excel.

A workaround could be to copy the sheet to a word document 50 times - one sheet per page, and then add a footer to the document that uses the page number as your "copy" number

edited to add:

another (and perhaps better) way:

create a word document with 50 blank pages - add a header or footer to add the unique number (pseudo page number)
print the 50 'almost blank' sheets
put sheets back in to printer
print 50 copies of your excel sheet

Go to the Print Preview

Hit the Setup button

select the Header/Footer tab

click the Custom Footer button

click on the 'page number' button to insert a page number in your footer then click ok

go back to the 'Page' tab in the setup dialog and set the 'First page Number' (near the bottom) to be 10001

Is there a way to have this but not in the Header or Footer?

Sounds like mail merge might be a way for you? I'll have a play and will be back in 5mins...

ah but if you down load this badger - Robert is your ma's bro:

(though I've not tried it - but it looks like it should do the trick)

My help pointed to that EXACT page too, but for some reason I couldn't access it?! I can get to your link though, how very weird.

Yup you're absolutely right. So, download that program, create a second worksheet containing the range of data you want to merge into the original, ie..

100001
100002
100003
100004
....
100050

and then link the cell in your to-print document to the new worksheet range. Job done.

If you don't mind a bit of VBA you could try this....

Create a command button on the worksheet and assign this code to it

Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
Dim i As Integer
For i = 1 To 50
Me.Range("A1" = Me.Range("A1" + 1
Me.PrintOut
Next
End Sub

not pretty but it will do the trick

yep and I have now just tried it - piece of cake, should do exactly what the OP needs.

(quite handy for some stuff I do as well!)
