Well guys just want your opinion on what difference a few upgrades will make to my Chimaera 500. Tomorrow im off to RPI Engineering for some 8.5mm Magnacor leads, a tornado chip fitted into the ecu, an ignition amlifier to go along with an uprated coil, and maybe a new Mallory dizzy if it needs it.
So i know its the million dollar question what if any difference will it make.
Steve.

Steve,

Paul,
Thanks mate i will let you know, i did enquire about the flared trumpets, and an enlarged plenum chamber to start with, but after a chat on the phone to Ian at RPI, he advised against that, and recommended new Magnecor leads, which i got today from Magnecor. An uprated coil, an amplifier for the ignition or dizzy carn`t remember which, and finally a Tornado chip. He said this should make a considerable difference to the way the car feels and performs, i was just curious if anybody else had done this and what results they got.

Steve,
I shall be watching this post closely, as I am looking to squeeze a bit more power out of mine. I had an interesting chat with one of the mechanics at Peninsula near Exeter today regarding upgrades. He said that induction mods are the way ahead for reasonable increases at low(ish) costs. His recommendations were as follows:-
1) Decat manifolds but the non reversal cones are a MUST. ACT are doing these for about £150 I'm told.
2) ACT plenum. Apparently the modified std plenum with bigger throttle body is no where as good.
3) One of those heat isolator plates between the plenum and inlet manifold are useful (£40ish)
4) With the above, you'll then get the best out of a decent cam upgrade.
I'd like to add this was one guys opinion, but you'd hope he'd have an idea!
Hope this is of use, looking forward to hearing how well your new additions work.
Cheers for now,
Nick

Nick,
That is exactly what i was going to do until i spoke to RPI today, now seeing as these guys have built many monster v8s i must respect there opinion, and they said that the above mods will make more air/fuel/induction and will give you more top end but you will still need the ecu rechiped, as TVR just adapt the Range Rover ecu for more fuel. So they suggest doing the chip and ignition mods first for more bhp and torque, and he said he has not had a dissapointed TVR owner yet with these upgrades.
Just in case your intrested Tornado chip £395.00 leads £100.00 amlifier £125.00. The other route modified plenum £250.00 flared aluminium trumpets £250.00, if i went for the carbon plenum £900.00. So we will see tomorrow what difference i get but i will post the outcome when i get back home 400 mile round trip.

Steve,
Hows trick mate?
Hope you had a good one over Christmas, noted this with interest (bit like the rest really) hope all goes well with it.
Are you coming to the Christmas do?
Guess Bloke will be giving it a miss as he will be otherwise engaged!
Didn't he used to post on here, and send text messages!
Steve.G.
p.s. I have got some of those very reasonable Castle Race Engine leads fitted to mine and ghey are A1, got some other bits done too...and appears to go alright
