Diff Noises.... advice needed?

I've just pulled into the NCP car park in Newcastle town centre following a little bit of sideways action. Anyway as I was driving into the car park I noticed a slight clicking from the rear left hand side. I wouldn't call it a clunking it was sharper than that but it was audible inside the car and you could feel it as well as hear it.

I've had a major service in the last 1000miles, with replacement diff seals and a modified breather so it doesnt spay oil everywhere. So I'm pretty confident it hasn't ran out of oil. Does anyone have any ideas? Also will I cause more damage by driving it?

Does the clicking stop when you brake? If so, the rear pads can rattle causing a rythemic clicking sound. New pads at last service?

I've just been and collected it from the NCP £6.50 for 3 odd hours, anyway thats another rant....

Braking doesnt affect it, and its fine in a straight line or going round left hand corners. It only clunks during turning right. The tighter the turn the louder the clunk/click. I'm guessing it has something to do with the right wheel trying to turn quicker than the left as it turns right?

I would suspect a damaged CV joint, not expensive or difficult to replace.

Well the concencus of opinion is leaning towards a cheaper option than a diff rebuild! Here's hoping anyway.

I forgot to mention that clunking was when i was turning right during manouvering rather than while cornering. I take it this would rule out the CV joint Peter?

Possible UJ on steering at slow speed? (CV if its the same thing).

Check your wheel nuts are tight,
I had a slight clunk coming out of the the garage the other day,
checked the rear wheels all nuts loose.

Check out your exhaust brackets, mine did the exact same, was split where it meets the pipe.

I did some of the above sugestions to try and remedy mine when it used to clunk and make a thud/knock when turning a slow but sharp left - so got the exahust re-aligned and also greased the diff mounts...now it happens very rarely, as opposed to everytime I drive.

But you do learn to live with it. Am waiting for some superflex bushes to be delivered and fix it for good - i hope.

I had the bushes replaced at the last service so I think they'll be ok. I made it to hexham Horseless last night so I'm just waiting on their diagnosis. I'll let you know!
