Inlet manifold porting

Hi there
I'm in the middle of replacing the cam on my Griff 500 and on taking the inlet manifold off its obvious that the heads and inlet manifold have had the ports enlarged and polished.
Its also pretty obvious that the inlet manifold gasket (valley gasket) has got standard size holes in it from manifold to head - so that the gasket 'overhangs' the port - which I would have thought makes the porting work pointless ???
Is it possible to by a gasket with bigger holes or modify a new one or am I wasting my time ???

Get yourself some engineers blue and mark out a new gasket and open it out to suit.
The composite gaskets are best

no, if there is a port match to gasket error,you are not waisting your time.....do it.

Someone (????) may have just used v. old LR gasket. I like the later LR steel geskets they seem to seal well & match ports.

Thanks for the advice.
Are the composite gaskets metal covered in a thin layer of black foam ?
Will I be able to open the holes out with a selection of hand files do you think ??
