Just recieved my Nitrons today,to be fitted this week.
Any of you Griff/Chim nitron users got any recommendations on what No. to set them at.
I think ill try the factory settings first, but what's best for mostly track day/ sunny day use.
Not bothered too much about comfort as its not used day to day.
Any of you Sprinters using Nitrons?
Car is 98 Chimaera 500.

If you got them direct from Nitron, I'm sure Guy will advise on the settings. If not, get in touch with your supplier.

The 'right' answer is going to depend on what spec springs you have, and whether the dampers were valved to suit those springs. But as a starting point for a standard road car, if they are standard Nitrons with standard spec springs I would suggest you start at about 1/3 of maximum, go softer if you can without the car getting too wallowy. (Is that even a word?)

mine are a fairly early set so things may be different now. With the 17inch wheels i've found the softest settings seem to give the most traction ( i.e awesome). although they did seem a lot harder after i had them rebuilt ( early knocking valves)

Guy has probably altered the settings by now but i know when i asked him he said the valving on mine was harder than standard dampers when on full soft..

The nice thing about nitron also is that if you find you carnt set them hard / soft enough they will revalve them to suit you...

( when i picked the car up after the dampers were rebuilt moore racing had them on full hard and i had to stop on the hard shoulder of the m42 to adjust them as i couldnt see where i was going!!!!)

i think the accepted rule is to run them as soft as you can... this gives the best performance..

Chaps

Just ordered my Nitrons yesterday, Guy was very helpful and suggested I go for a spring rate of 350lb front and 250lb rear. as it's only used for fun and track days.

Just so I can compare, does anyone know the standard spring rates ??

cheers.

I run 8 clicks front/10 rear on the road & 10 front/12 rear on the track. I'm beginning to think that my road settings might be a bit too hard so I'm gonna have a bit of a play soon, although I have tried 7/9 & didn't like the feel of it.
The spring platform heights also seem to have a big effect on the damper settings, ie I've just raised mine by appx 10mm & this has made the ride noticeably firmer (but was neccesary for ground clearance reasons).

I can't think of any reason for that, can you?

Maybe its altered the conerweight settings, moving weight about. whenever i've had by ride hights changed i allways make sure the car is cornerweighted at teh same time..

Dunno, but it has. Maybe at the previous platform height there was very little preload on the spring?

I guess if the ride height was high enough to hit the droop stops it would all get a bit horrible.

The front is now slighlty lower, and the rear roughly equal to standard ride heights. They were significantly lower before.
