Hi Folks,

My T350 was registered in Dec 2003. Is there any way I can tell, or does anyone know of any history etc if the engine is likely to be one with the later parts on it or if its an early engine?

I don't know any other way to find (short of taking it all apart that is!).

What do you think?

Thanks, Rich...

I have a 03 T350 and the head gasket went in 2005. It went back to the Factory to be repaired under warranty.(with previous owner)

At that time it was standard proceedure by the factory to upgrade the motor to the latest spec at the same time as doing the head gasket under warranty.

Mine was fitted with new shells, valves, followers, piston rings and cams. I think if you or any previous owners had for instance a head gasket failure then you may of had the latest engine parts.

If not then the motor would be as 2003 spec.

I may be corrected, but i think this is correct.

I thought you could tell by the colour of the top of the engine. Our 2005 car had a black top.

I'm afraid not. The new Saggy engines have a red top, and TVR painted some of the rebuild engines as a sweetner, but generally they're all black.

What was the supposed rule then? Old one Red top, new one black or something?

I'm just going to have fun until it needs work doing to it anyway. I'm more than expecting it to have problems as some stage... Its the price we pay for the performance frankly!...

The only way to tell is to have a look on top of the water pump housing its all stamped with date of assembly and who built it.

I doubt you will that desperate to find out once you see where it is.

What I was looking for was for one of the factory guys to turn around and say... "I remember your car, it was the first batch of fixed engines!" or something

Tell you what, can someone just tell me that anyway? I'll believe you!! (everyone believes good news!)

Richard The age of yor T350 suggests that all the engine parts are top notch and you will have thousands upon thousands of trouble free motoring miles ahead of you.

Yours Sincerely

Pinochio

Edited to say Richard that nobody knows whats inside them but let me reassure you.

I am stripping a late 2001 4ltr speed six at the moment and it was as new inside, Dont judge the book by the cover.

Just Enjoy that lovely Hemi straight six while you can. It could be a long time

Mark.
