Step forward Henry Firman, praise from Honest John in the Telegraph is praise indeed............. From this weekends motoring section.....

Eye of the Targa

I recently bought a 1990 Porsche 911 3.6 Targa from 911 Virgin in Uxbridge (www.911virgin.com). Evidently the company is very choosy about what it buys for stock, so there's some reassurance for prospective buyers. But the interesting bit is their selling policy. You can either buy "as is" or else at "full retail", whereby they send it to an independent specialist for all necessary servicing and mechanical work to be carried out. Best of all, they also give you copies of the specialist's bills and a note of anything that will need attention in the coming years. I have a fully sorted car and it's the first time I have come across such a system. I am sure others would benefit from it.
T.D., via email

That's very good news. Decent, independent Porsche dealers and service/repair specialists fulfil a need created by the franchises.

Buying mum that computer for christmas - bloody wise move

We actually get quite a few bits in the Telegraph. Obviously selling James May his car got a mention (and a page in his book !). Both the Times & Telegraph refer to us from time to time.

This genuinely came as a shock & I only found out myself this afternoon from a customer. Thanks all the same.

Henry

Suffering from PMT (Post Michaelmas Testiness) kayc ? Did you find the Loti to be quiet, smooth, torquey, comfortable and well built (with a surfeit of traction and/or grip)rolleyes ?

Not at all but good fun all the same for 20k..if you want a toy car i thought very acceptable..as you allude to, massively lacking tt grunt and grip..probably give the gt3 crew a run for their money on the road though and you keep 45k in the bankeek

Well that just goes to show how wrong you are KayC. You live in a very deluded bubble I must say.

I am guessing here - but I would suspect that over 80% of their trade is Finance. Why it would bother you if someone paid cash or financed it though remains somewhat of a mystery to me.

Because it sums up why Porsche can continue to oversupply cars at the wrong price,no-one actually ever pays for them apart from a £300 monthly payment and second hand prices therefore will continue to fall, when you come to sell your 997 gt3 and no punter has any cash so you hit the dealer bid 10k cheaper than you expected you may understand why finance deals alter market prices.

But KayC there's one flaw in that argument.

Any fool can call a decent asset finance house and finance a car they buy privately?
