12k Service - How long does it take?

Planning to book my car in for its 12k service and wondered if anyone can tell me how long my dealer will need my car for to carry this out. Previously they have always kept the car for a few days (not for a service but for various bits of routine maintenance)

As my dealer is over 40 miles away this can be a pain, hence the reason for the question

Normally 2 days - the engine has to be completely cold before they can start work on the tappets or something.
