Well we have all heard about the cannonball or even the scumball, well why not a Porscheball??? We are organising an event this year (2007) for a trip to "the Nurburgring" in Germany, for all Porsche owners, Entrie will cost £500 per team (2 persons) to include accomadation B+B,ferry crossings and 4 laps of the Ring!!!! oh yes 4 laps...you can do extra laps @16 euro's a lap... the round trip is approx 1000 miles YES 1000 MILES. This will not be a race just a fun jaunt into the Fatherland, with loads of laughs and fun..**MAX 50 Teams** Starting at The Porscheshop in Halesowen West Midlands, with meeting points @ Oxford and Clacket Lane services. We will be meeting up with the French Porscheball 2007 @Calias with a max of 50 french teams so 100 teams altogether.

One of the 928 guys has already asked questions , hear are HIS Questions & answers he got
said:

I have emailed the chap via ebay for further info and then spoken with him on the phone to suss out whether this is a con or not.
The guy seems genuine and he and the other organisers are all Porsche924club officers (this is the group that broke off from Tipec to form a 924 specific club) although its not a club event as they want to attract all kinds of Porsche owners.
Main points I wanted clarified and answers were as follows:

1.Q Which hotels are being used? A Not booked until sufficient numbers confirm

2.Q Will deposits be refunded if the event doesn't go ahead? A Yes

3.Q Is it a closed event at the Ring? A No its a public day so anybody could be on the circuit

4.Q Who is the event sponsor? A None confirmed at this point

5.Q Do the organisers have experience of the Ring, bookings etc? A No, its a first

To be fair the guy was very forthcoming about the unconfirmed elements and obviously very enthusiastic. He also said that 16 of the possible 50 UK team places were already booked and there was a lot of enthusiasm from the French clubs so it might end up being a sizeable event.

Ah, but this is for charity mate
said:

RULES
1. You must use a PORSCHE for the trip.
2. the trip costs £500 per team (max 2 persons) so thats £250 each
3. you must raise a min of £200(each) of sponsorshipfor the British Heart Foundation. (Sponsership forms will be the British Heart Foundations own).
4 you CAN sell advertising space on you car to help raise your costs or just pay or the trip yourself
5. all competing cars must agree to carry the sponsors logo sticker on their rear window (easy to remove afterwards).

How it works is each team member must get at least £200 pounds worth of sponsership each. Thats at least £200 for the charity (each)...hopfully this will with 50 (100 persons) cars make at least £20,000 for the charity...But i'm looking for a lot more!! you will have pay for your own fuel and you food and drinks, So start badgering you friends workmates and your gaffer!!!!

Fair point - once I had the £200 from a sponsor, but no organisation to take care of it, the dosh would probably go towards a season ticket & transponder for the Nordschleife

Make sure you all have the Nurburgring Emergency phone number in your phones
Its an offence if you dont stop at an accident around the Ring and warn the other
drivers behind you

Mate, I don't care if it's hans f***** stuck with you. I have a pet hate for 'cockandballs 9000' type events. The ring is busy enought w/o 20 odd people all feeling they all have to try and get on the circuit at once for a f***** photo, etc, etc. You stick to your days, and I'll stick to mine. lovely.

Just had a look & it says:

"Porscheball is no longer going to the Nurburgring

Due to insurance problems the event is now only going to Bonn in Germany...."
