Just bought my first Porsche!

Thanks for your help in answering my previous questions, you've been most helpfull.
I'm collecting my new pride and joy on Saturday from Bournemouth: a mint LHD 964 C4 manual in dark blue for £10k.
It's had a top end rebuild and new clutch in the last 3 years and the bodywork is PERFECT - in fact it's too good for me! Been sorting out a loan and insurance today ready for Saturday, I'm so excited even if I did have a tear in my eye when I saw my beloved MR2 being driven away.
Anyway, just thought I'd introduce myself and warn you of the stupid novice questions that may follow...

Thanks 'bro'
Here's the link to the dealers site, only have one other pic so far.

Was thinking about getting some clear indicator lenses and side repeaters for it. It already looks very sharp with the upgraded 17" rims and teardrops, thought they would freshen it up even more and contrast nicely with the dark paintwork - what are people's thoughts?

And another thing - being an import all the handbooks are in German. I've been trawling ebay for an English one but not having any luck. Would anyone on here happen to have a spare? Or failing that a very kind fellow owner bored at work maybe able to scan theirs? My email's in my profile if anyone can help. Unfortunately my schoolboy German isn't helping me out!
Hi Stig
It's great to see someone who is so excited about getting their first 911. They are indeed great cars and like nothing else on earth to drve. Have you had the car inspected yet?
With a name like the Stig you must be a pretty handy driver so please don't take this the wrong way. A 911 is not an MR2 and demands a certain amount of respect. The reputation for being tail happy has been deservedly earned the hard way. Just remember when caning it that lifting off mid-corner will result in almost immediate snap-oversteer. Catching this in time is often way beyond the driving skill of most mere mortals. If you can, get yourself on a track or airfield day to explore and learn the handling characteristics of your new P&J.
Apologies if this sounds a bit doom and gloom but I was young once and learned this particular lesson the hard way.
I hope the car lives up to everything you had dreamed about in a 911.

I'm no-way near what one would describe a "handy" driver, the only cars I'll through around are cheap bangers that would'nt cost the earth to replace. Only ever had a couple of moments in the MR2, both in the wet and caught in time. Luckily had enough space to play with and gather things back together safely both times.
This was why I thought it sensible to go for a 4wd 911 as a safer option for a first Porsche.

Funnily enough I took a few wrong turns in Bournemouth looking for the dealership (trying to drive and read a map at the same time is not advisable!) and spent the best part of an hour driving round.
I don't think I've seen so many 911's in the same town apart from London. So I probably have seen you already on Tuesday!

Good to see another railwayman on here. Do you use the internal foums at work? Connect? I posted on there to ask what cars people had and all I got back was some crap on how economical someones Daewoo was.Hi Gaz, I'm based primarily at Wem signalbox in rural Shropshire and our box isn't on the Connect system. I work at several other boxes from time to time and have seen the forums though - dull enough to send me to sleep to be honest. Much prefer to find an unsecured wireless network and chat on here!

I hate you.
What for hacking into other peoples networks or for being able to have a less mind numbing conversation whilst at work?
Being able to talk to people about something other than 66066 or 1R18 etc.

WTF? actually - I'd rather not know.
Glad you weren't going to get all ethical on me there, but I leave my wireless open at home for others to do the same as I find it only fair.

I'd love to have that option available at work however all tests have proved fruitless! Enjoy your 911, I hope to get one when they bring our wage structure inline with yours.

Wouldn't be me I only drive it weekends as I live under a mile away from work. Strange you saw so many 911's as I never see any.
