Show Footnotes question

Ted, why do “Show Footnotes” in my info preferences keep turning themselves off?
When I go to view preferences the box is always ticked. To get them to show again I have to unselect and update and then reselect and update.
Then if I do a refresh they appear immediately.
It normally only does this when I re-log in.

Al, does this only happen, when you access PH via another computer?
The information show/not show is stored locally on the harddrive of the computer you've last selcted 'show footnotes' on. When you work on another computer (ie. computer cluster) it'll show default=off.

Hi Bodo, thanks for the expedient reply.
I access PH from two PC only, the defualts on both machines is always "ticked" to show.

For some reason the cookie is being removed. Security settings? Personal firewall? Are you using Opera?

In a word Ted, no to all these.
At home minimum Internet security settings, no firewall, and no opera.
At work minimum Internet security settings, no firewall, and yes to opera but not on my personal pc, so I shouldn’t be affected.
