diameter of griffith indicator lens?

Hi, does anyone have a Griffith (Centurion tank/army Land Rover 
) indicator lens they can measure and let me know the diameter in mm.? Because they are inset I can't really get an accurate measurement and I wondered if someone has one loose, laying around after swapping from orange to clear? Thanks Rich...

Got 2 Orange ones from my Cerb kicking around here somewhere Rich, pretty sure it is the same in Griff/Chim/Cerb is it not? Looks like 7.5cm for the lens itself and about 8.5 cm if you include the metal outer ring that sits behind the hole when on TVR's, it is the 7.5cm that would the diameter of the hole or thereabouts.
If you want one or both then you are more than welcome to pick them up, worthless to me.

Hi Sinclair, it's just the dia. of the plastic lens I would like to know. Do you have one to hand, is it exactly 75mm.?
I am considering an HID upgrade to my headlamps so thought I would swap to clear indicators at the same time. I would prefer to get absolutely clear lenses as opposed to the grey/white ones TVR used so I searched the net looking for something I liked.
Now here's the funny story; months ago I measured the ones in my Griff as best I could with a ruler and lost the measurement. Before Xmas I ordered some lenses I liked from Hella, thought they would look good once slotted in with some silver-vision bulbs. Because like most blokes I know what I’m doing I didn’t bother measuring-up again and guess what? When they arrived they are 55mm. dia. i.e. way too small! I could see they were wrong immediately I opened the jiffy bag! I have no idea why but somehow between the garage and the phone I confused approx. 3 inches with 55mm. Guess it's an age thing

Sorry Rich my post was rather confusing as at first I said they were kicking around (implying they were not actually with me) but then I did actually go to get them and measured them - so yes it is 75mm for the lens part.
You might be interested in this thread I put up a while back, some similar ideas on here, I was initially considering putting small spots in for the same sort of "clear" look and move my indicators altogether.

However look at the posts from RobertJP, he did something similar to what you want to achieve by cutting a clear lens out of an aftermarket rear light cluster from a fiesta and used that as a lens, it's still an indicator but looks more like a spotlight. Here is one of his pics from that thread.
Seeing his idea, I was then going to scrap the spots and do the same (it does look cleaner and more modern) but in the end I just got lazy and went for the standard land rover white ones. I don't know how much fiddling he had to do to adapt it however.

So from reading that thread I understand them to be the reversing light from a set of Fiesta Afterburners
All I need to do now is find out which manufacturer makes the components because I assume the red, amber and clear lamp units are actually made by Hella or Phillips and simply glued into an aftermarket moulding for the Fiesta. Rich...

Ahh double post...
@ 76mm. (didnt clean all the sealant off) widest face of lens.
I have the Hellas in a speed 12 conversion ( Hella sell proper connectors & boots for them - essential in TVR!) You could just make an adapter ring in gf/alloy & paint it (but those lamps should be reccessed I reckon??)

Rich the hella ones you have shown are the ones that are fitted to the LE's(or SE's) , they have a smaller diameter cut into the indicator recess.
But they do look good !!

I think the ones used in that link were probably some far east knockup as the entire units were sold on ebay for £25 per pair!!

Russell had used a pair to modify his rear light cluster first and realised the size of the lenses would fit the front. My understanding is he just bought another set given the price and cut out the relevant lenses. Sadly doesn't look like there are any of that exact type currently for sale.
There are however more expensive "afterburner" conversions and they may indeed use Hella or mainstream produced lenses.

Yeah, I realise that - indeed I knew it before I started searching for some 75mm ones. As I say, I can't figure out how I managed to get it wrong! But they do look good !! www.s-v-c.co.uk/ more lights
