I've finally decided to convert to the dark side and buy a Mac Pro, but I've never used a Mac before in my life so have no idea how easy this is going to be!

Ideally, I'd like to do everything on the Mac, but I will probably keep a PC of some sort around as I use these for work so if anything isn't Mac'able, then it isn't the end of the world.

I do have a few queries though...

1) I've got 100's of CDs ripped to WMA format (at a high bitrate) which I play through a Squeezebox. Will these still play on the Mac, or will I need to convert to MP3? Also, I'd like to keep things consistent so is it possible to rip CDs to WMA format on a Mac? I guess I can continue to do this on my PC though, so it's not a huge issue.

2) I run an old (PC) version of Quickbooks for doing my accounts - is it straight forward to run this under an XP emulator, or will I be better off upgrading to a Mac version of the software?

3) Is it straightforward to migrate mail from PC Outlook to the email client you get on OS X?

4) I've been using Office on the PC - will I need to buy Office for the Mac, or are there any better options that will still read/write Word/Excel/Powerpoint files?

5) Umm... anything else I need to be aware of, like must-have utilities (anti-virus/firewall??)

Are you missing a link, or am I missing how profound these seven words are?

Itunes will convert WMAs - though you may have to do this on a PC version of itunes (I haven't tried on a MAC) .

edited to add - 4) Open office is the way to go.
