Hi has anyone got figures on BHP performance if I removed the cat down pipe. Also has anyone used the prodrive cat pipe as I am not sure wether to go full de-cat. Cheers

Which model are you thinking of decatting? UK classics gain around 20bhp with a down pipe de-cat. subsequent re-mapping can extract some more. I would imagine new-ages are around the same.

I have run my 99 wagon with no-cat, uk-spec cat and now a sports cat. You can definitely tell the difference, though it is mainly in removing the laggyness than outright power. If this is your only mod I reckon you would definitely be able to feel the difference.

Definite difference in spool up and top end revability.

With cats, my old UK car was lethargic above 6k RPM and took until 3.5k RPM to hit full boost.
Without cats, it reved cleanly all the way to 7k and made full boost by a fraction over 3k.
If you're worried about emissions, just leave the centre cat in and it'll pass just fine.

I'd say the downpipe gives a real 10 bhp, but it feels much more like 30 due to the other benefits. Oh, and you should get a couple of mpg for free too...

A remap would be good in the longer term, but it's not essential.

The car is 2000 (classic) and I am not worried about emmisions as i will put the cat back in for mot. Was it a pro drive cat you had in and did you think it was not as quick of the line as no cat
