Hi, my car has now done 16k and i'm concerned about the engines reliability. Is it worth getting the engine upgraded before it goes pop or just wait until it does and then have it rebuilt to a higher standard??? Also what is the going rate for a rebuild and is it worth going for performance cams etc??

Who says its going to go pop.You only hear about the ones that do and not the loads that dont.Take the view that i do,look after it,drive it,enjoy it,stop worrying about what could, might, maybe, possibly happen.

your probably right, just seems like 16k is about the time they go. Who's got the most miles on a s6 engine without any major work?scratchchin

29.5k without any knowledge of a rebuild on mine, but suspect it may have had one between 0 and 8k.

Had major misfiring and loss of power problem today though...although that was more to do with running out of petrol!!!

Cheers Shadey.
Looks to me like if its going to go there isnt alot you can do about it!!!!
I think 45k on an engine is probably the most ive heard of. Anyone beat that?
