EUSTON UNDERPASS eastbound.

Loads of fat coppers with radar guns pulling people over in large numbers as they come out of the underpass trying to get to work to earn a living.

Excellent use of police resources I am sure.

Are people normally exceeding the limit there in large numbers? Presumably there are regular pile ups there too then?

No? How odd. Could it be the speed limit is wrong?

Ideal place for a speed trap then.

On the average morning, the average speed through that underpass is 5 mph. It may be that they reckon that with this week being a little quieter than usual, traffic might flow and some people might just exceed 30.

The traffic in London has been VERY light. My journey from the Wharf to Heathrow each morning has been 45 minutes rather than the usual hour and a half....!!!

The underpass was totally clear, so people where getting the toe down as they swooped under the underpass. Easy to do 45 ish along there. Easy pickings.

Seemed to be picking on bikers.

Interestingly they seemed to have a big presence about 300 yards BEFORE the trap. Suspect they were checking no-one going the other way was perverting the course of justice by flashing a warning.

Could it have been the police using ANPR? I've seen them do that a few times in London and also just pulling people over to check tax, insurance, MoT, etc.

Apparently when they do it its very successful and they've caught all sorts of criminals (murders, rapists, burglars, etc).

Hi

I also noticed this this am.

Not wishing to comment upon the ability of the police to set up laser traps, but did anyone else notice that the police range rover attending was parked in the junction, sitting in a bus lane on a red route (double red lines), forcing traffic to stop and pull out around them in the rush hour.

Is it acceptable? Are they attending the scene of a crime? [No crime reported at the time of parking]

Which would suggest the large presence is to spot people doing sudden u-turns or otherwise acting suspiciously on sight of the cameras/guns.

Yeah could well be.

It wasn't ANPR - it was a plod with a radar gun. Might have been ANPR also but didn't see as I was too busy making sure there wasn't a trap on my side as well!

Maybe they read notes from the gospel according to West Mercia, they like to have four or five marked saloons on a both-sides slip roaded bridge over the M5 on a sunny Sunday. At least between them WMP and the Met are targetting the leisured middle classes as well as the hardworking classes, no discrimination there then irked
