Bought Windows MCE on Ebay, with pretty hologrammed disks (2 for the OS, plus another for MCE service pack 2), all genuine and pukka.

wiped my old XP Pro off the disk, and installed MCE. Installed with no probs.

However, and its been a while since I did a completely fresh install, no device drivers were loaded, and it looks like win2000. I'm sure its XP MCE as I can start the MCE bits, and the Computer Properties page show WinXP, but the START button and taskbar don't look up to date.

My memory fails me, but do I have a 'classic look' function enabled? On my work PC at the moment, which is XP Pro, and the taskbar looks the same. I guess the answer will be simple.

And I guess I should have made copious notes on the devices I have in the PC to make sure I have all the software to install, such as the motherboard extras lol. Cue Dad's Army quote....STUPID BOY hehe

Cheers all.

Right click the Taskbat, Properties.

Click Start Menu tab.

Theres your "Contemporary / I remember when you could leave your front door open" switch.

Happy New Year,
Greg
