I'm camping in Karting Nord for '07 and would like to take a fridge (for obvious reasons!) if possible. Is there a way of getting electricity on site or do I need to take a generator (or get a gas fridge instead?)in order to enjoy ice cold beer?

Cheers!

I suppose about 1500mm of extension lead from Houx might do the trick, apart from that you're looking at a genny or a gas fridge (do these actually work?) Alternative is a couple of decent sized igloo coolers stuffed with ice...

We use a site that has some leccy points but they're first come first served.

We have a genny that the Friday night latecomers can bung in the car if the early arrivals can't get a plug sorted.

Best idea is the coolers you can fill up with ice. They work better than a fridge in my opinion. Less weight to carry in the car as well. Ice can be sourced at the well-stocked local supermarkets.

The little generators that Halfords sell for about £60 work quite well. I take one to power a lighting rig and stereo and to charge phones etc.

And you can buy top-up ice at the local supermarkets.

Coolers and salt water apparently (according to Mythbusters the other night - just don't lick the bottles!!)

If you're going to run a genny remember a) to bolt it to something substantial otherwise it will most likely be gone when you come back and b) remember that tents don't keep fumes out so please don't point your genny's exhaust at the back of someone else's tent then run it all night (race night excepted!) and wonder why they get pissy with you!

To run a fridge on a genny, you'll need a bit more than the 850va gennies at Halfords. And the fridge will struggle if it's in a gazebo and opened regular, as it will be working over time to get any temp difference.

We use a freezer and 2.5Kw genny. Alternatively we have a large insulated box, big enough for 150 cans and fill it will ice every day. Best option.

Take a small genny anyway for lights and music.

We use a gas fridge and it works great, kept the beer n bacon cold last year and used alot less gas than I expected, though it's a bit bulky but sits on the back seat ok.

Kiddies paddling pool full of water under your vehicle, you can buy ice from the ice van that comes round each night.

are you allowed paddling pools? I'm sure last year they were not allowed, due to the water shortage

I think the pools were ok it was the water that was the issue

Another very dry summer here although it's rained a bit more recently. However,I expect the water restrictions to still be in place this summer unless we in the Sarthe get a lot more rain in the Spring.

Get there early as we tried about 10 supermarkets back in 2005 and everywhere had sold out. I suppose that was particually busy that year, and the temp. had sored to the high 30's though!

We had a gas fridge in the caravan, no problems.
