I think I'll go to bed now, and sleep until the morning. Time passes more quickly this way.

This is better than Christmas.

If you think your wait is difficult then you ought to put yourself in my shoes..........................................the car is sat there in the garage just waiting to be driven...............but it's not mine anymore so I can't. So every morning I have to walk by it and fire up the trusty Polo hack instead......how depressing

Only 21 hours and 54 minutes to go

Jules.

I think we should open a book on how long it'll be before you're back. Personally, if you're not seriously considering one by the middle of the Summer, I'd be prepared to lose a tenner.

Give me a year. After that time I'll either decide to keep it or move onto something else. I spent a long time in Caterham-ownership but now I recognise that the world is populated with lots of interesting motors that I want to try. The Cerb fits my requirements at the mo, and may prove to hit the sweet spot for a long time to come... but I may be seduced by a cheap new Marcos (I doubt their prices will fall that far in a year) and I still hanker after a Noble and an Aero 8 (although I'd prefer the AeroMax - something I'll probably never even see in the flesh I suspect).

One day I'd like to own a Ferrari, but what attracts me about the British-built cars is that I can reduce their cost of ownership with self maintenance. I can't see that working with a Ferrari.

I also fancy stripping a Cerb back to nothing and building it back up with all new/refurbed parts but I haven't the space. It looks such a great car to reduce to a kit and go through with a fine-toothed comb and there's no better way to get to know a car than building it. I was almost disappointed when I finished building the Caterham, so I pulled the engine out every Winter and "fettled".

Of all the cars I like, the Cerb has the best engine. If anything keeps me in Cerb-ownership for longer than the year, it'll be that. I love it. thumbup

I really did have a kip earlier. I was waiting for my monthly P&L reports before I could do anything else so I made up for a late night watching Overhaulin' last night with a coupole of hours in the sack.

The joys of working from home.

Anyway, it's half 6 now, so we're a bit closer.

Tick bloody tock....

I've entered a state of Zen.

I am calm.

I shall remain calm all night.

I shall watch my DVD Christmas pressie (24) until I'm so tired I collapse. I shall awake in a quiet house (my son's staying at Nanny's), shower and eat breakfast in a state of tranquil anticipation. My wife will serenely waft me to Cyclone's house in her new Merc. With complete composure I shall get into the car, peacefully start it up, thank Cyclone and drive away with perfect composure...

... until I hit the M1 at which time I SHALL LIGHT THE BUGGER UP AND HIT WARP 10. driving

Woo yah. bounce

My wife will serenely waft me to Cyclone's house in her new Merc. With complete composure I shall get into the car, peacefully start it up, thank Cyclone, and drive away with perfect composure........

At this point Cyclone goes into a state of shock, stood there rooted to the spot waiting for the world to collapse around him, then he hear's the distant sound of thunder and suddenly sparks back into life...."That's not thunder!" he thinks to himself, "that's the sound of my Cerb..............and I'm not driving iteek" He quickly grabs the keys to his trusty Polo 1.6L (it's got alloys and windy up windowscool) fires it up and sets off driving in true Schumacher style ramming other cars out of the way as he chases the sound of distant thunder. Pushing the Polo as hard as it's 90.2bhp (independantly tested at numerous rolling roads!) engine will let him, it makes rapid progress down the uneven, twisty country roads that he knows aren't the Cerb's favourite. The sound of thunder is now getting closer and closer, and with the Polo's windows now firmly wound up, the heaters, radio and all other electrics switched off (all helps the performance) he manages to extract another 5bhp (he's done lots of research and tests to prove this theory) from the Polo's gutsy engine, this is enough to propel the Polo forward at an even faster rate and now not only can he hear the thunder, but he can see it...........only a hundered or so yards in front, can the trusty Polo really catch the mighty all conquering Cerb???? Yes it can (remember Cyclone has amazing driving skills, he's driven this strip (sorry road) before and he sure knows how to launch (sorry drive) that car), of course the little Polo can catch the mighty Cerb, two more tight and twisty bends and the Polo is now firmly glued to the bumper of the Cerb, nothing the Cerb can do can shake the little Polo, unless I can find a long straight section of road. With the Polo so close behind I can see Cyclone foaming at the mouth and screaming "Give me my ****ing Cerb back", but there's no way that's going to happen, because just around the corner is paradise, a place where no matter how great Cyclone's driving skills are the little Polo will have no chance, a place where the mighty power of the Cerb will show almost any car who's boss, one more corner to take and with the little Polo still glued to the back of the Cerb I finally see Paradise..................

The M1hehe

.....I hit the M1, LIGHT THE BUGGER UP AND HIT WARP 10 IN ABSOLUTELY NO TIME, WHAT A CAR! I look in my rear view mirror and amazingly the little Polo has disappeared into a tiny spec.............Cyclone reluctantly gives up and turns off at the next junction to go home, even he realises that although the Polo has 95.2bhp (with windy windows rolled up and all electrics off)he just won't quite be able to catch the Cerb.

At last it's mine.....................let the fun begin....... driving

Woo Yah. bounce

Of course you missed the bit about my going around in circles for a half hour because I can't work my way around your road system and my satnav gave up in disgust. So, having gone around the local roads for a half hour, failed to find any petrol stations or the M1, Mars comes to a halt just outside Cyclone's house with no petrol and a reduced will to live. wobble

Can't believe you're not asleep yet!

.....and I suppose I'll have to get up early in the morning and give the car one last wash, one last check of the oil and the water, one last routine of getting in the car and firing it up, one last drive to the local shop (which is apparently near Manchester way)...........sod it, roll on tomorrow morning.
