I know there loads on here about removing them blah blah (all good stuff though) I can now claim that I have just removed mine in a swift 80 minutes. One question although they looked fine - once the suttle removing procedure endured a large amount of grey dust/powder was evident. Is this from buggered cats (not feline type) or the coating from the cats.

My cats were loose - very loose so loose one was slopping about and smaking into the lamdba sensor and causing running issues (im hopping)

See link for images.

Yipe - dont do kids - smelly little things anyhow

How do they fall out when the lambda sensor mount stops the bugger - and I mean bugger.

Because most people remove the sensor first - rather than risk damaging it (pretty expensive items!)

confused

Just got B*ll*ck*d (sorry could work out how may * to put so had to type word first then edit)

She said that she was going to post threads on here leaving messages for me as I take in what people on here say!!!!!!!!!
argueargueargueargueargueargueargue

Right back to the thread

Tools:
Sharp punch
Sharp chisel
Sharp medium sized pry bar
Hammer
Pliers
Mole Grips
Drill with 10mm metal bit

REMOVE LAMBDA SENSORS PRIOR TO DECAT ----------- REMOVE LAMBDA SENSORS PRIOR TO DECAT

ALWAYS WEAR GOGGLES AND A MASK -------- YOU MAY GET IMPOTENCY OR INCOMPETENTCY OTHERWISE ---- DO AS I SAY NOT DO

I used the sharp punch to hold the cat in place as it moved all over the bloody shop. Looking at the size of the cat I tried to damage a area about 20mm x 20mm and then rotate the cat 180 degrees so that this area then sat over the lamdba sensor mount.

Using the pry bar I could then start to remove some of the casing allowing the cat to rotate out of the manifold. To speed up this process I used the drill and chisel to remove material as I went along.

It is bloody hard though.

After a stage I could the use the pry bar and get behind the cat a pry it out. Not as easy as it sounds and I would like to try removing one that has not come away from the manifold to see how easy that was.

Will post images once they have uploaded.

If anybody needs help or help doing for them then post me with your number and I will call you back - no worries. Coalman is normally around in the evenings - dont know why as we have gas? confused

Anybody know what this nasty stuff is made off anyhow?

The middle bit sticking out of the middle is the sensor itself, the bigger lump is just the recess it screws into. You should most definitely unscrew the sensor from the manifold before you think about removing the precats, because they're very vulnerable and pretty certain to get clouted. With the sensor out of the way it doesn't matter if you have to stick a screwdriver through the side of the matrix and force it past the obstruction.

Whilst we are on this thread could sombody please quote a Part #for a sensor socket - I used a 17mm deep socket and mole grips to undo as pe images - no issues and they were not as tight as I thought they may be. But thought it might be useful for the future for somebody.
