Those close to the scene will already be aware, this is for those that dont......
I, along with countless others wish Martin the speediest of recoveries.
Cut and pasted from the Sylva chat List

re: Martin Bell - The Kit Car Workshop & Fisher Sports Cars UK.

Many thanks to everyone who has wished Martin well since learning of his
recent hospitalisation and operation.

Very briefly this is what happened and the current situation.

Martin was rushed to Northampton hospital on Friday 8th December with a

Chronic Subdural Haemorrhage. (This condition is caused when a ruptured

blood vessel causes a build up of blood between the brain and the brain's
tough outer lining.)

To cut a long story short, we believe this was the result of a car accident
on October 14th when he was driving to Brands Hatch, (for Total Kit Car

Live), very early in the morning.

On Sunday 10th December his condition became life threatening and it was
only then that he was transferred to the Neurosurgical Centre at Radcliffe
Royal Infirmary in Oxford, where he underwent emergency surgery.

The operation went well and so far Martin is making a good recovery.

Although he does get tired very quickly and has trouble remembering some
things, there is every chance that, given time, he will make a full
recovery.

Martin is now back at home, but under strict instructions not to get
involved with the business, to rest completely and avoid any work or stress
for at least 6 weeks. He then has to go back to Oxford for assessment, and
if all is OK, will be able to start working and driving once more, although
he is never again likely to be able to put in the 80 to 90 hours a week he
has been working for the last few years.

Unfortunately, this situation has created a serious problem with the
day-to-day operation of The Kit Car Workshop & Fisher Sports Cars and we
have had to lay off two workshop staff and severely restrict the workshop
opening hours whilst we deal with the backlog of parts orders.

We are also looking into the best way forward to ensure as little disruption
as possible to the business and inconvenience to our customers.

Meanwhile I would again like to thank everyone for their kind wishes.

Very sad news.......

To clear up any speculation, the final and regrettable decision has been
made to sell Fisher Sports Cars. This sad action has been taken to protect
what is a very viable business, but more importantly, to protect Martin's
health. The Kit Car Workshop premises will be sold separately to FSC. We
hope that all the 600 plus Fury owners and our many customers, will
understand the situation and be patient whilst negotiations are in progress.

We will also endeavour to provide a short term solution for those customers
waiting for parts.

If anyone has any questions, we will try to help, but must ask for email
contact only at this stage. Help@FisherSportsCars.co.uk

Please feel free to forward this email to any interested party.

Thank you

Teresa Bell
for Martin Bell, Fisher Sports Cars & The Kit Car Workshop

Fisher Sports Cars - Kit Car manufacturing business for sale.

Martin Bell, the proprietor of Fisher Sports Cars underwent emergency brain
surgery last December 10th to resolve a life threatening Subdural
Haemorrhage. He is now making as good a recovery as can be expected, but
will be unable to work for some considerable time, and thus he will not be
able to continue operating the business.

Fisher Sports Cars is very much a viable business, and to avoid as little
disruption as possible to current and future customers, it will be sold as
quickly as possible to someone who is able to service our many customers and
develop the product into the future.

In the first instance, any interested party should first contact Mrs Teresa

I've read this a few times now and found it difficult to post.

It is a shame to hear of such a prominent manufacturer looking to be sold, but I can understand the reasons and I wish Martin all the best.

It is sad, but Martin's Health has to come first. The main thing is The Fury is a tried and tested viable product so I am sure it will survive. There are enough people trying to launch new kits which are quite frankly, pants, so I sincierly hope that someone with the talent and money to market it properly steps in. It is a genuine British sportscar manufacturer of which we have very few left. The Fury has an enviable compettition history, and a large following as a road car so lets hope a decent chap buys it.

In fact, I have a feeling a certain someone will.........

God, that's awful.

Having been hospitalised and out of action myself recently I haven't been working on the Fury for a couple of months and had no idea.

I sincerely hope everything works out for Martin, a thoroughly nice guy and for the staff at Fisher and KCW.

Totally agree. Martin is a true enthusiast and gentleman. From my initial interest in the Fury and right through my build, he has been there, willing to answer my many questions and to provide honest and frank advice.

His reputation was a major deciding factor for me in starting a Fury build. It was rightly earned through hard work and long hours, as any fellow Fury builder will know, when the answers came back via e-mail, late into the night.

I wish him a speedy recovery and hope that he is back, involved in the UK kit car scene some day soon.
