My mate is around mine at the moment with his new gadget phone thingy. I accessed the internet on his phone via my wireless router and ran a speed test; it said I was getting 16.72 Mbps.
Now, I only pay for 2Mbps, and if I run the same test on my pc, using the same router, obviously, I rarely get above 300 Kbps. (yeah I know, crap. I'm in the process of sorting it out)

Why's that then?

Are you sure it went via the router and didn't dial it's own 3G connection (although that figure is rather high for 3G). Again was it actually running the test between itself and the net or between itself and the router (again 16Mbps but paid for 2Mbps)?

What speed do you get between the PC when it's wired directly to the router/modem?

Was the test over a decent sample size? If I download a 100k file the computer thinks I have a 2323mb connection.

Generally 3G phones work at a similar speed to slow broadbean, otherwise what would be point in a landline based BB?

No, can't be sure.
