Chimaera 450 in Evo this month
Discussion
RB5 scoobie followed by a V6 Clio.
Looked at this article and thought this is me all over - exactly the sort of garage you would like to put together for reasonable amounts of money (some of them not all, but then again...)
They admitted the Chim used would not be found for 10K, more like 13 but I did think you would be hard pushed to find a RHD RS2 for 10K and the Esprit wasn't what they wanted either being an S4 not the SE.
Great article though.

Why O Why did I sell

Hello! Glad to see you haven't lost contact with the TVR forum (I can feel in my bones that it's only a matter of time before you are back in the driving seat of one!)...but less of the old...she has feelings you know! Anyway, I for one am very glad you did sell - she is a belter and you can comfort yourself with the fact that she went to a good home. You looked after her well...
Hi OWEN,
TVR ownership is an addiction i'm afraid. Just when you think you have kicked it someone mentions those 3 letters and you realise your still an addict.
Currently trawling the trade ads at the minute to try and pick up something priced nicely for the winter. Have been offered a few but not the right colour combo or to mileagey. Trying to avoid the private ads at the minute as am looking for that bargain!!!!!.
As the summer draws closer I can see the price becoming less important.
Hope to see you at one of the big events durung the year

I'm glad they thought to include a Chim as it very rarely gets a mention in the mags despite being the most popular Tiv ever made. Did annoy me a bit when they said 'maybe we should have brought the more aggressive Griff.' It's the same car!!! (ok apart from the dampers).
The Clio won because it was the most capable and exciting to drive allegedly but I can't help but think they ignored the fun factor, and the noise! What would you rather be driving on a sunny day, a tin top Clio V6 or a V8 with the top down?

Must have been in better fettle than the press cars when they were new, then. The Mk 1 Clio V6 was not very capable (what with 230 bhp having to schlep 1,355 kgs, for starters - a far cry from the 250 bhp and 1,200 kgs that were promised initally) and only exciting because with that V6 sitting rather high in the chassis, you never knew when the back end was going to overtake the front! The Mk 2 was a different kettle of fish altogether, apparently - but the TWR-engineered, Swedish-built version was a typical example where the idea of a mid-engined V6 pocket supercar was more appealing than the driving experience itself.
