i let someone drive my car the other day and i recieved a nip in post for 51 in a 40.

he is not listed on my insurance, if i give his details would he be done for driving without insurance?

if so i might take the points for him to save the hassle

They won't check insurance - all they want is the £60.
However, was he not insured? If you let him drive your car uninsured some on here will have a very unsympathetic view of you and him and rightly so.
Presumably he has his own insurance covering him to drive vehicles not owned by him. At least, let's hope so.
If you choose to take the points and it subsequently is proved that you weren't driving you might expect a spell inside for 'Perverting the Course of Justice'. One 62 year old got 4 months in the nick for giving a false name.

Not necessarily, it depends on the policy.
Some insurance companies have now removed the provision (as a matter of course) in their fully comp policies of 3rd party cover for other vehicles.

You need to check the policy.

The poster said the driver was insured fully comp for any car,not that he was using the third party stuff.Don't know if that's what he meant but it's what he said....
