The weakness is not with the software, it's with the law. SPECS cameras are only type approved for operation within one lane, if you always switch lanes between any operating pair of SPECS cameras they will know you were speeding, but legally can do f' all about it.
True, until they change the Type Approval (no doubt silently and without telling anyone).

A mate reckons that if you change lanes on a motorway section monitored by specs, it won't pick you up for speeding. He says it's weakness with the software, in that it can only monitor you if you stay in the same lane for the full stretch.Any thoughts or theories ?
Assuming you can work out which of the units are paired of course ... so that you know which lane to be in at which point.

The software could do it, but I think it was an issue with timing to get type-approval through within some specified planned time limit, therefore it was decided to go with the single lane approval (1 pair of cameras per lane).
"Problem" is as stated, that if you have 4 consecutive cameras, you might link A+B, C+D; or you could link A+C, B+D.

First position - only one appears to be looking at lane 2 or 2/3?
Second position - two cameras, one on lane 1, one on lane 2
Third position - two cameras, one on lane 1, one on lane 2
So if I am in lane 1 entering the system, it can't measure my speed over the first section?

And presumably back date the legislation? Or am I being too cynical?

My understanding is that each stalk with 2 cameras on is only type approved for monitoring one lane. Therefore if there are two stalks 500m apart each one will only be monitoring one lane, say the right hand one, and by changing lane you would therefore only be seen once by the cameras.
However if there are 3 lanes and 3 stalks of camera's are sited at each of the points 500m apart each stalk will be monitoring one of the lanes and they can then mix and match and spot you in lane 1 at the first set of cameras and lane 3 500m later.
