Not sure what size of battery is on the Murci, but anyone got any experience of charging a V12, assuming they are larger than standard batteries?

Have posted on a few forums just to see what everyone has so hope you don't mind the repost as I'm sure some share forums.

Thx in advance.

You want one of these:

www.optimate.co.uk/

I've tried ALL of the rest and these are the best to keep battery in tip-Top condition.

Works an absolute treat on my Murcie (and everything else I've got one on - Quads, Bikes, Boats, 4X4's etc) - I have 6 and they are top-notch.

Permanently wire it into the mega-fuse with the spade connectors supplied, or use the crocodile clips, or buy the optional cigarette lighter socket - permanent install is best.

Also see this thread:

I use Optimates on my bikes and jetski, but I have a Banner Accugard for my Vette (5.7 litre V8, so should be similar power battery ?) You need to look at the charge rate. The Optimates I have are 0.8 amp and whilst I have used it on the Vette, it took ages to get it to full charge. The Accugard is 1.6 amp (they also do a 0.8 amp for bikes etc.). It could be that Optimate do a higher power one for cars, but personally I wouldn't bother with a 0.8 amp one. OK for keeping a strong battery ready, but not so great if it needs to be recovered from a discharge. I think Accumate is basically the higher power Optimate.

Yeah if all you want is a plain-jane battery charger there are hundreds out there that can do the job - even from your local Halfrauds!

If on the other hand you want a battery conditioner and optimiser to keep the battery in peak condition then the Optimate is hard to beat and is better than that manufacturers own Accumate product.

They're pretty much all the same thing. Battery voltages/sizes and charging power being the key differentiators between models.

I had to change my battery on the Murcie recently, got quoted £400 + VAT from the dealer! So went on the net found out which one it was, and got it for £60 inc VAT and delivery.
Not relevant to the charger query I know but just goes to show
