Drivers Window & Dip Beams???

Ok when opening the drivers door the window isn't going down or up and also dip beams aren't working!! sidelights fine and full beam fine. Now does this point to a connected problem or not? I've looked through a number of threads & before I start trying something I'm not very good at or even understand I was wondering if there was some magic answer???

The light problem may be the black box on the fuel tank that controls the lights. You may find that 2 of the terminals are burnt.

Can you advise how one gets to this box please?

Remove the section of material that fits between the top of the boot opening and sticks to the fuel tank,it's just held by velcro. YOu will see the all of the black control boxes.

There are a few boxes on top of the fuel tank all labelled up.

yep thanks kojak is the black box with 2 burnt out terminals, any idea how much to replace & how easy to rewire the plug as that looks pretty burnt out as well?

re: the lighting control box.

I opened mine and cut the burnt out pins. Then soldered heavier gauge wire to the 2 pin connections on the PCB and terminated them outside the box with bullet connectors. Had to drill a little hole through the plasside of the box. All was fine until 2 wires from the dim/dip control box suffered the same fate. I did the same to these but fitted a couple of 15A fuses inline. All was fine after that.

A few have modded theirs now to use the existing wiring to switch a relay that feeds the front wiring with a heavier gauge cable.

The window problem is probably the magnetic proximity switch at the bottom of the door. A new one can be bought from RS. part no is listed in the parts thread.
