iTunes, it's all gone wrong, help!

I thought I'd defrag the HDD on my laptop last night, as it's been running very slowly of late. All fine and dandy, except my iTunes library is screwed. Instead of having over 1,000 songs, I have 84. It's created a 'damaged' file in my iTunes folder.

Anyone know how I can recover the damaged library, or tell it to use the previous library, which is stored and should have most of my music on there. Almost everything is imported from CD's, so I can get it back that way if needs be, would just like to avoid the inconvinience of spending a day feeding CD's into my laptop. Any help much appreciated!

Are the music files still on the HD? If so, you should be able to just re-import the library (in file menu)
