Wasn't there a thread a while back where someone from the company was trying to defend their magnetic product? If I remember correctly, she sank without trace in the face of the relentless scepticism!

I have friends who have tried this product, and it appears to work. Originally it was a 2 can system, now consolidated into just the one.

No dyno figures but the car in question (an MX-5 with 85K on the clock) definitely had better pickup and it eliminated a flat spot.

It's entirely possible for a high mileage engine to have MORE bhp than a new one, due to carbon buildup on the pistons which increases the static compression ratio.

EdT, for the cost of the can then its worth a go, I'd have thought.

There's a forum on EcoTek's website actually moderated by them - loads of helpful information to be found.

Not sure I always thought that old engines relied on the build up to keep their compression .

Not compression so much, but a carbon build up on the pistons and top fo the bore helps to control oil consumption on high milegae engines. It's reccomended not to remove carbon build up in these ares unless you are having a full rebore etc.

The famous Vauxhall tuner Bill Blydenstein always used to reckon his cylinders heads gave more power after "coking up" for a few thousand miles.

Sorry Ecotek has nothing to do with fuel line magnets at all (perhaps you mean Ecoflow)?

This complaint against their magazine advertisment makes interesting reading...

http://www.asa.org.uk/asa/adjudications/non_broadc...

Think maybe I'll get my engine de-coked the hard way instead.

There is no substitute for a PowerBoost treatment if you want to make sure your engine is running at peak efficiency and maximum performance.
Surely one for the advertising standards people. They appear to be claiming it's not possible to get an engine running at it's best without shoving this crap into the intake.

The same snake oil peddlers that though fitting stupid (and noisy) valves to bleed air into the brake servo pipe was somehow going to improve power.
