My sister is getting a new car soon (A 107 actually) and needs to get rid of her 106. Spec is as follows:

Peugeot 106 Graduate
N Reg
XND 1.5 (Diesel)
130,000
Fair condition

Although long in the tooth it's still a great car for somebody. There are no real mechanical problems with it, and it has a fair MOT left on it (at least 6 months). Not sure about the tax.

So, how much is it realistically worth? I would like to think £500 ish. The dealer has offered £250 so just wondering if we could get more for it, obviously might be worth a bit of extra hassle.

Thanks

I'd have said around the £400-£500 mark as well....

106 Diesels seem to hold their money much better than the petrol equivalents and are fairly sought after. The engines go on forever and give brilliant fuel economy.

I dont think you'd have too many problems selling it privately so long as there arent any major problems with it. That was the sort of thing i was looking for not so long ago as a runabout. Ended up spending a bit more on a newer saxo in the end.

£500 is on the money if you put it in your local newspaper.

I got £400 for a 1992 Peugeot 205 disesel with 175k on the clock (after having been clocked!) by advertising it in the local press. Some old chap who doesn't do many miles but wanted to tow a small trailer (!?) bought it.

Then I bought a '98 106 1.5d with 42K on it for £1500 Bargain.

Thanks for your comments guys

I am going to stick it in the paper and pistonheads' classified section in a few weeks if I decide not to keep it for a runaround. The 58 MPG is very tempting at the moment.

You should see high 60s, maybe even 70 mpg on long runs if your light footed, I get 58 on my 7mile thrash to work and back. They are a very very cheap car to run.

The novelty of taking 3 minutes to get to 60 does wear off after a while though.

Can I ask how much a 106 petrol goes for? Are they any good at 100+ miles?

Need a cheap runaround - reliable, but nothing fancy and I know they're a hoot to drive.

My missus traded in a 106 1.1 Graduate on an L reg, with 80k on it, in good nick recently, and got a paltry £265 for it.

They're worth feck all to a dealer unfortunately.

bought a 1.1 petrol for the missus while she was in the UK for a while, paid 600 quid, ran it for a year, someone crashed into it, writing it off just before i was going to sell it, insurance gave me 600 quid with no quibbles, result

apart from the dick who crashed into it first wanting to settle in cash, then saying he couldn't give me it for a month, and then he'd only give me 400, then didn't bother filling in an insurance report, delaying the whole thing, i dearly hope he's getting humped on his renewals

To be honest the car in the original post sounds very desirable to a lot of people! £500 is probably a bit low...

I'd have given you £300 for it

On a serious note - anyone had a petrol 106 at 100k+ miles? I loved my parents 1.1 saxo, but it seemed to be falling apart by 60,000.
