Essentially is a Turbo S the same as a Turbo X50 , but with PCCBs ? Are they notably quicker ?

Larger K24 turbo's (standard K17?), 450 bhp v's 414 bhp, torque differential is greater (X50 is 457 lb/ft, not sure what standard tt is), improved induction and exhaust systems, some carbon trim etc.

I believe that the X50 sounds better and pulls far better than the standard tt, but as always just my opinion !

in short yes

a few small spec differences:

GT silver painted alloys instead of plain alloy (personally I prefer them unpainted)
turbo S insignia on arse, kickplates and under aircon controls
CD changer std I think
(not carbon trim as stated above)

other additional spec depending on what yeat turbo X50 you are looking at, eg PCM2 become std on MY04 I think so all turbo S had as std

And the TurboS badge on the rear, and a little more Exclusivity, and the fact they were the last, limited run completed, yes, from memory they are just a re-badged Turbo X50 with Big Yellows.
