I have a Toshiba 32WL56P LCD TV. It does'nt have the RGB component plugs in it for me to be able to achieve the 1080 resolutoin for HD that I want. If that makes sense.

It does however have a HDMI connection at the back.

So my question is as the title says; Is there a lead for the 360 that has a HDMI connection on one end, and the XBox connection on the other?
If there is, where/how can I get one??

Many thanks in advance.

Nope.

No HDMI support yet, or indeed announced by MS at all.

Does your HD TV have a VGA input? There is a cable available for that (which I'm using with great success on my TFT monitor)..

Curry's stock two variants, one from M$ for £20, the other is from Madcatz at £15 (15ft long and supplied with an optical cable)... No prizes for guessing which one I went for!

Just checked the spec on your telly...

Inputs as follows :

* HDMI
* Component video: Via PC Input
* RGB: 1
* SCART: 2
* Front/side AV input
* PC Input
* S - Video Input
* Headphone

15 quid cable and you're sorted (I'm sure the purists will turn up and point out that VGA is nowhere near as good as HDMI or something like that, but I think it looks great!)

The VGA cable will support 720 or 1080.

A quick google puts the native resolution of your TV at 1366 x 768, not sure if there'd be any benefit (or even if you'd be able to) go above that.

I've just had a quick look on the back of the TV, and the VGA looking type plug in, says RGB/PC.

Is that going to be OK to plug the VGA cable into? confused

yes The PC designation confirms that

As has been pointed out above, the native resolution of your TV may stop you going to full 1080, but you should be able to reach 720 (still rather impressive to look at)

This may be of interest regarding HDMI, although a bit late for some www.engadget.com/2007/01/05/the-second-xbox-360-revealed-codename-zephyr/

Slink, I ended up buying the Madcatz cable. But it did'nt come with an optical cable. Although there is a port you can plug an optical cable into the XBox end.

Are you sure yours came WITH the separate optical cable? Does the optial make a BIG difference?

Thanks mate.

Interesting and timely thread. We're getting our new HD-TV today (Pioneer PDP-427XD) and will probably continue to use this Xbox360 VGA HD cable with the new TV and plug the audio directly into the separate surround-sound system.

Currently using the Xbox on this LCD widescreen monitor and it's fantastic. When plugged in you can use the Xbox360 configuration screens to adjust the resolution to best fit.

Call of Duty 3 online this afternoon anyone?!

Why not use the Component cable?
Most VGA inputs are design with PC level outputs, and as such, using the VGA on the 360 will make the image appear washed out and less impressive due t it being video level.
If the Component input is already being used with the DVD player/recorder, then fair enough, but a good component switcher can take car of that, as can a good AV processor.

Indeed it did... I've got it sat on the desk here now..

The optical audio cable provides a digital 5.1 output for your surround sound decoder.

Remind me where in the world you are..

Resolution wise, VGA is the way to go as most flat panels are WXGA in resolution (1360x768 dots) and so will match 1:1 the xbox, by feeding a 720/1080 line video picture into your display your forcing it to scale the image.

yes shame there isn't a YUV/YCrCb VGA mode, seems you either have to choose between perfect resolution or perfect colour reproduction. HDMI/DVI-D would be the best, but no 360 supports that yet, and again you can't output in WXGA resolution with those modes (well, you can't with a PS3 i tried a few months back)
