I apologise in advance for this paperbag but the other day noticed that the current tank of Total Excellium motion lotion had lasted for over 290 miles. I did run it almost to empty but normally get between 150 and 230 miles per tank depending on how nuts I am feeling.
Assuming 11 gallons used this is over 26mpg! scratchchin Slightly unusual Id wager for any Chim never mind a 500!
There was a fair amount of motorway driving but I wasnt hanging about either. I normally dont give a rat's ass about economy but this seemed like a massive improvement. It also seemed eager enough but the downside was noticably less pops and bangs than with Optimax.

Anyone else turned into a diesel using Total?

Mine sounds like a diesel on Total, but that's about as far as it goes. It hates the stuff

Mine is apparently running efficiently (just been emissions-tested and looks clean as a whistle) but does approximately 150 miles on a tank of swanky tescos 99 RON or BP Ultimate... and it's only a boggo 4 litre! Might have to try the Total stuff...

Whats the fuel tank capacity on Chims? My 928 (4.7 V8) held around £70 worth of Optimax and that would buy me around 200-250 miles depending on driving style. Do TVRs have a similar sized tank?

I managed 32 mpg on a long run via motorways at a steady 75mph. I thought that was pretty obscene...since then I have only managed 19 to 22, I have obviously learnt to drive properly

Town driving's what kills my fuel consumption. That, and I think the coolant temp sensor in the inlet manifold is on the blink. Got a new one of those in the post this morning though, so might get the socket set and a torch out tonight if I'm especially bored...

Me too. I went to devon last year and managed about 32mpg. But around town get between 19 and 22. I run my 400 on Tesco 99. It loves it.

It's good stuff, and comparitively cheap round my way (well, cheaper than Optimax or BP Ultimate)

Sorry state of affairs when 91.5p a litre is considered cheap though!!!

Yeah mine seems to run very well on it, but strangely doesn't like BP ultimate confused

You're not alone - mine hates Ultimate and runs very lumpy on it. Several other owners I know also get the same.

Never known a car that’s so sensitive to different brands of fuel.

tried Tescos and was good, but my 450 loves V power the most. BP Ultimate - yuck

Bit confused how the fuels are so different as the Old RV8 motor has fixed ignition timing (ie its not adaptive unlike modern engines), so you wont get the best out of 100 octane fuel without knocking the timing forward a few degrees to account for the slower and more stable burn properties. (unless TVR have done this already, so you cant use 95 octane anymore ??) Anyone have any rolling road figures ?

Yeah me neither, it is strange, but at least it likes the cheaper kind!

Bizarrely enough mine feels flat on V-Max but gobbles up Ultimate with noticeable torque benefit.

Total though it just loves- smooth and economical. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that it is a Total station that is closest to Bristol Avenue, car feels like its back at home!

Mine just loves anything, with a thirst that would put Oliver Reed to shame! Granted, I barely get out of 3rd gear most of the time (I live in Hong Kong and you wouldn't believe how slow the roads are), but I got 17 mpg last week and was over the moon - usually it's closer to 13! Nearly 300 miles on a tank? That would be Christmas for me - I normally get between 140 and 180!
