Hi there,

Very quick question. With a budget of 10K what sort of 3.2 can I buy? A reasonable example or a bucket?

Cheers.

Martin.

A bucket of a G50 but could be lucky with a decent 915 car. Squeeze a little more out and it becomes easier!

The latest issue of Porsche & 911 World has a buyers guide for 3.2's. Of course you can purchase cars for as little as 8K....but there's a good chance they will need attention and been in the starship mileage category. I think really good ones start at 14K....average to good examples around 12K. Low mileage has a premium and I've seen them at around 18K with 40,000 miles on the clock. I personally wouldn't bother at the upper limit especially if you intend to pile on the mileage. Don't worry too much about 915 / G50 as when they get to this age it's better to buy based on the condition and provenance of the car.

You will still have quite a few to look at, and if you are happy with LHD, then you could get a good car.

I would probably open it up to SC's then you will have more of a choice, and some better cars. £12k would make a good difference though.

You can get a surprisingly good 3.2 with a G50 for £11k at the moment.

Just keep your eye on the classifieds there are plenty to chose from and some real gems in amongst them.

a well set up 915 box is better than a tired G50, but that is splitting hairs really. Make sure the bodyshell has no serious rust and the car has had plenty of money spent on all the bits that wear out such as brakes, exhaust etc

Great cars if you get a good one

cheers

Good SC
Average 3.2
as mentioned earlier latest 911 & Porsche world have a spread this month on the 3.2.
Get a reasonable RHD narrow body for 12-13k
Mint ones with low mileage are very rare nowadays and you will pay a premium for them because of this, up to 19-20k in some cases.
Supersports and Club Sports/Speedsters are a different ball game altogether, always demand a premium.
