CSL oil level measuring

To be honest, I have been wondering the same thing. I have done almost 1500 miles in mine since getting it and the oil level has read 0.9 all this time with no drop. My previous M3 used very little oil in 20k miles, but I still regularly checked it with the dipstick to be sure. With the CSL this is not really feasible so I guess we have to rely on the electronic oil level sensor doing its job properly. Is the reading on the OBC during normal driving,the long term reading taken over a period of time? Anyone know how to do a spot check using the OBC?
I've done 40,000 miles in mine over 16 months as an everyday driver. Mixture of 100+ mile motorway journeys, 8 mile commutes and some back road fun. I've never put any oil in between services, athough occasionally the reading will vary by 0.1 or 0.2 litres after a quick run.
To be honest, after the first 6-10k miles, none of my previous BMWs have ever used any oil. And this even applied to an E36 M3 in which I did 180,000 miles (although the service intervals are shorter with an E36).

Not if you do track work it isn't !!!
After every trackday my oil level sensor goes ape, even after a brutal B road session ! i've seen it go from o.9 to o.6 then to at the end if the day 1.0 then finally the - - - flashing crap !!!!!!!!!
Most of the time its replaced under warrenty which is a bit scary !
to spot check the oil, pull over after about 20 minutes or more of driving , put it into neutral, level surface and hold the sport button for a few seconds and the reading should show you the current figure. can't remember if its short term or long term reading? !
I don't thinks its any better than the Porsche oil measuring systems.

no other way to do it I am afraid.
refer to your csl booklet and it says complete electronic system
unless you want to take the carbon air box off every time to read it you have no other option.
if it breakes it is under warranty so no worries.
unless you are one of those FOOLS that chose not to renew warranties as the CSL is bomb proof...apparently!!
