Currently with HSBC and I am less and less impressed, their local branch has been down graded to a sub branch, they were complete B*stards when I started factoring, recalling my overdraft because I did not use their service (which is less than useless)

Want to move account, maybe even personal ones as well. Who recommends what out of Woolage, Barclays and Natwest/TSB? (they are the only ones in the town)

I have had good experiences with Bank of Scotland (after trying the big names) - very good telephone and internet services too. They are linked to Halifax for a high stret presence (offering free banking at the moment too).

Good luck

Hi

Must admit to hearing poor reports recently about service at various HSBC branches, personally on the high street I have found Natwest to be very good.

I'd agree with that. Tried Barclays for a while. Hopeless. Firm's been with NatWest for 35 years. Cant complain about them at all

Go into every bank within a sensible radius and ask to see the manager, saying that you want to talk moving bank.
Interview them and let them know it. You will eventually find a manager you can form a business relationship with.
Ask the pertinate question 'how long will he/she be that role/position".
You'll soon find out who not to deal with, the actual level of service is near enough the same, it is that manager relationship that matters.

Funny isn't it, Barclays are the only bank that have given me anything like the level of service i expect. Went through TSB, NatWest & the Yorkshire Bank before settling on Barclays 11 years ago. Never had a problem.

But then I think banks can be very much like garages, it's not the company (Ford, Vauxhall, VW, Barclays, NatWest, etc) it's the actual branch that matters. There's good and bad branches/garages within the same company.

It can be pot luck, unless you go on personal recommendation...
