Are the porsche owners clubs a great thing, if any of you belong to one it would be of great help to read your comments. Im a new owner and would like to share the car ownership interest with others sad but true

They're great. Monthly pub meets for a chat and a laugh. Attendance at car shows, track days. Drives out and pub food on Sundays. Periodic mags with articles, classifieds, adverts, news, offers. Etc.

I'm in TIPEC (The Independent Porsche Enthusiasts Club) for the last 10 years. This is a voluntary run club with approx 1000 members.
There is also PCGB (Porsche Club Great Britain) which is a business and Ltd Co, has its own premises and directors. This club has approx 15000 members.

Hi there

I joined the Porsche Club GB when I got mine on advice from a friend who has been a memeber for a number of years. I get a very interesting and informative magazine once a month, they have a good classifieds section and offer discounts on various services and products with the membership. Also they do a trip to Le Mans and various others organised and catered etc.

Hope this helps

As a 996 driver, I worry about Porsche snobbery at these clubs - do you get any people looking down their noses at owners of "mass produced sports cars for the masses?"

Hardly the case! I suspect the largest populace of cars in PCGB are the water pumpers.

Porsche finally tapped into the Well and now it pumps water and cash, aint nothing wrong making good engineering available to the masses.

the pca is a great organization over on my side of the pond. i do all my racing threw it but not particularly keen on the whole social aspect of it since most people got 30+ years on me.

Was in the PCGB until recently. I was getting the mag every month, but the monthly meet was coinciding with pother commitments so no use for me at the mo. Also found myself drooling over cars I couldn't afford and since I am no longer a Porsche owner, there was no real benefit. They do some good organised events though, and still keep in touch with the RO. Will rejoin when I buy a porker again, but many members do have a few years on me, so exactly a young people's event.

PCGB member since June last year and have found the meetings fun and interesting with a wide range of people (from Beardy to builders)and cars including most of what has been produced from stuttgart since it started and some very rude stripped out racers. A 996 driver should certainly not feel inferior, they even let in cayenne's in......

I'm a member of TIPEC and get a great welcome despite the fact that I'm 'between Porsches' at the moment. We have some great events lined up for the year, a visit to the Godstone Traffic Control centre, go-karting, rally school and Goodwood Festival of Speed to name but a few. Club meets and events are a great source of information and amusement!

Try going along to a couple of different club meets to see how you feel before taking the plunge and joining up, I'm sure any club worth it's salt would be happy to meet you.

Been a member of PCGB on and off for last 5 years, currently a member.

I'd recommend it, the forums are a great place for high quality information plus a way to meet like minded porschefiles.

trackday and insurance discounts also included, monthly meetings, annual days out etc.

A different lot to PH'ers, usually a good balance.

Hell yes! that's why I joined. Don't worry there's a 996 register (support group) where you boys can discuss 996 specific "interests".

Joking aside you'll easily make back the annual fee in terms of insurance discounts, discount on parts at OPCs etc. They organise good track days, as for the social events, there's no obligation to attend. I've been to two club nights/ events in the two plus years I've been a member.

Politically they are too close to Porsche themselves. So don't expect PCGB to take on the parent Company in terms of issues like RMS etc.

Main advantage of PCGB membership, especially if you do any of your own maintenance, is the 10% discount on all parts from an OPC.

Send me a PM if interested in going I have one organised for Sunday 4th March, TiPEC
member first (if you're not) but I'll probably have a space or so.

We also have a meet to the Mercedes Centre at Brooklands, Chatham Steam Fair, a visit to an OPC, weekend in France at sensible cost, etc etc. all benefits of being a member!
