Since I bought the new camera last saturday it has rained , rained ,rained.!

This was about the only shot I managed without getting soaked!!

Teashop in Llanrwst, an oft photographed building.

I really like this. I feel Black and White works very well here, looks like an old photo and therefore fitting with the house.

Not really a technical comment but I'm not a very technical person.

The house is a bit lost in my opinion

I like that. It looks like you've been doing strange things to the sky... but what the hell... it'd sell well if it were converted to a vignette and put on 'notelets'.

One of the few houses I've seen with more need of a haircut than me!

Re. the sky...if you've been dodging and burning, try turning the values down to 5 or6% and building it up slowly with a soft edged brush.

It's a very cliched photo, but very nice none the less.

Martin.

I really like it! I must say the effect on the sky looks great. You know what may look great with this image? Instead of turning it totally b&w, just leave a very faded colour, maybe partially. Just my opinion.

I converted from RAW with little adjustment , then removed road signs, park benches and other unwanted artifacts. Adjusted curves , levels and converted to monochrome using channel mixer.
Bit of burning with wide soft brush and 6% opacity the river and 30% opacity the sky ( to get the look of a grubby old photo)
Finally I used the ink outline filter to get the crisp finish.

I really like that - it makes me want to try harder with digital B+W, which I've found lacking compared to hand printing from film...
