oil pressure

Just checking--
1999 Griff 500, running sweet as a nut. However , oil pressure when cold 25 psi ish, when warm is at around 10 at idling speed. This ok, or garage job? No panic- its standing over Winter

I know there can be quite a variation (dodgy pressure sensor / guage) but mine reads 30 at idle and between 35-40 under load.

Worth investing in a new sender, the insulation around the spade connector can deteriorate, this started to go on mine & gave readings similar to yours until changed

Also check the connector attached to the sender - it may need nipping up a bit so its a tight fit. I would mention vaseline but I don't think I will (cue Del).

Tight/Vaseline have we staryed in the Chimp forum again

I also extended the wire on mine to stop it pulling off when the engine twists under torgue ( Not a problem FlippyFloppy would have though )

I seem to remember that it has always been like that.The pressure climbs as the revs build but drops to 10 ish at idle.

What oil you got in him?
I think Mobil1 gives these sort of readings whereas the slightly thicker 10/40 oils lift the pressure.
Have you read about the difference between oil pressure and oil flow? I thought I had it sussed until then. Boggling

Yeah, it is mobil 1.I read it was a bit thin when warmed. Good thinking Batman.

Mine runs on Mobil 1 and sits at 45 when cold and 30 - 35 when hot. Never drops below 25 even on tickover

Those figures look ball park for a pre-serp engine. But being a 99 car yours should be a serp' engine, which usually have higher pressures. Start cheapest first as said earlier and check out the sender and connections.

Try some valvoline racing 20/50. Improved my oil pressure not end.

Also make sure the engine temp isn't getting too high. I changed mine after the summer because the high summer temps killed it off.

Temp is spot on. It's gotta be the sender (crosses fingers)- it's running sweet (oh sh#t- touch wood) God, i've jinxed it now! This is everyone elses fault! I'm in a paranoia spiral. I'm only human!!!
