I need to replace one of my HT leads which is now in two halves, I have a temporary one in its place at the mo.

- Which ones are recomended?
- Where can I get them from?
- Do I have to buy a whole set?

I did my ignition upgrade using kit from ACT Products.

I recommend the Magnecor Reds, and yes you should buy a set.

I am sure someone said there was a slight increase in BHP when using magnecore???
There was a thread with the before and after results from a rolling road session...but then it could be a case of the leads on the car were old and on their last legs and the magnecores were new.

Would be intersting for a comparison...standard landy leads against magnecore.

I have covered about 20k on standard leads and apart from a dodgy halfords rotor arm i have not had an ignition problem yet

I replaced my leads recently with a set of Magnecors. Idling is smoother and a flat spot now history.

It was only once I'd removed the old leads when I realised how knackered/perished they really were - looked OK whilst attached but it didn't take much for them to break/fall apart while removing.

Think Magnecors are guaranteed for 5 yrs? Make sure you get a fresh set of extenders too.

brummiewedge thats exactly why i dont use Magnecor i think there prices are a joke.especially when you know what they cost to produce,i use the castle ones because i was assured they would withstand the TVR under bonnet temps, and yes your right i would not look for free H/power from HT leads unless there shot to pieces.

If your leads were that old and knackered would a set of £35 leads have cured the idle and the flat spot...???
Not being critical...i am just curious as to how much difference magnecore make if any over standard.
Magnecore are gauranteed for 5 years...thats good, but we dont know how old yours were...?

Its like saying Avo or Nitron shocks are better than standard.
I have just replaced my shocks with Avo's and the differnce is amazing. It would be because the old shocks were knackered. But i cant say they are better than when the old shocks were new...if you see what i mean!!!

I agree with dodger.
I bought genuine Range Leads just under six months ago.
Then last week the car started to misfire and generally misbehave.
Lifted the bonnet to check all the HT leads were attached properly and all four leads
on the drivers side fell to bits when pulled off the plug. The rubber had gone rock solid
like brittle plastic and turned to powder when squeezed.
Spoke to ACT and new Magnecor leads arrived following day.
The engine now runs as smooth as silk and as above has lost a small flat spot the car has always had since I bought it.
Sorted.
Highly recommended. Look good too.
Paul.

No plug extenders?

likewise - hence the question about the extenders.

Although I've used Magnecor leads for a few years on the Wedge, I've had 2 break (supposedly under gtee) but which I was obliged to buy replacements for. Now I'm not some ham-fisted monkey, and I don't think they are as durable as perhaps they should be. Anyway, It'll be something like Moroso next time.

And just to be clear, I did NOT source them from ACT - I've always found Tim very helpful.

I've had Magnecors (10.5) on my 500 for 7 years, no problems with them at all. Lent them to a neighbour with a Rangie for a few weeks while my engine was being rebuilt, he now has a set of his own too.

No leads will "increase power"; you pay for the longevity. Like eveything in life, you eventually realise quality may cost more initially, but pays in the long term. I can't comment on any other replacement leads as these are all I have used, other than the std ones which broke down through heat damage after 3 years from new.

Is anyone having rev counter problems with their magnecors? I've seen some posts on here about bouncing revs and reading high.

I put standard leads on my car and had a bouncing rev counter problem. I crossed the ht leads an odd number of times when running next to each other and it fixed the problem???
