Taking delivery of my brand new VXR on Friday and simply can't wait! Although it's a new UK car the dealer can't confirm if the alarm is Cat 1. Does anyone know.

It is NOT

Also, whilst it has a very decent immobilser, it has not been submitted to Thacham for approval so does not even have a Cat 2 certification

My advise is to insist that the dealer fits Cat 1 upgrade, and tracker as well (at their cost)

Thank you for the reply. I have arranged to fit a tracker but it can't be installed until a few days after I take delivery. Luckily, Churchill Insurance (all credit to them) have agreed that they will cover against theft despite the delay in having the tracker fitted.

Thanks again for the info.

With a tracker fitted A-Plan were quite happy to insure my CV8 with std Alarm and Immobilisers.

To be fair both alarm and immobilisers are both pretty good. There would be no problem getting Cat2 with the immobiliser and the alarm, being a perimeter type, is just missing the ultra-sonic movement detection inside the cab. I believe Vauxhall do have an "upgrade kit".
