This started monday morning when my wife uttered the imortal line " i've just got back from the doctors and guess what.......". Yes we two are to become three. I am honestly over the moon but made the stupid mistake of saying "Shit what about the car". It wasn't my first thought but it was a bloody close second. since then it's been "when are you going to get rid of it" and i'm screaming inside "NEVER"
Am i a complete and utter b@st@rd for still wanting it ( the car )!! I've only just got it.

Firstly, congratulations!

Secondly, keep the Tiv. We've got a 2 month old son and a 17 month old daughter, and the S3 works fine as my car. You just need to make sure that your missus has a family car and then you're sorted. No point in both of you running round in big cars!

This is the exact approach friends of mine with kids take. Oh...and if Mrs Don ever tells me the same - then the two two seater cars go. And I'll just have to get a four seater Porsche. Mmmmmn. That should keep her legs crossed.

Congratulations BTW!

well my sproglet is now 10 months old and i've kept the chim...

it does help when the wifies car is a discovery though...

in the end as long as you have one car that can take all the shit a baby needs ( so its a lorry then )

that also means it isnt your car that gets knocked about and smells of sick and poo....

make sure its hers....

Congratulations! Aren't we PHer's a fertile lot?!!

Keep the Griff, redced - unless it is financially not viable. As mentioned on a very similar thread a few weeks ago, you and your wife are still human beings, and will need some adult enjoyment as well as baby fettling fun! What you REALLY need is a local parent-in-law/granny to cuddle the sprog whilst you go razzing! Good luck!!

Congratulations!

Make the most of the next 8 & whatever months. Do as many trackdays etc: once you're three, the logistics become a bit involved. Plus if you're anything like me, you'll find wondering whether new corners can be taken flat more coloured by the consequences ..if you find they can't

Seconded. We've just sold the Griff because we don't have any home-grown babysitters (grandparents!) living nearby, and since we usually went out together in the Griff this would've meant leaving Junior at home on his own. Or if I had to go anywhere during the day, I'd take the Volvo by choice because it's a big, heavy baby wagon - no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't persuade myself that the Griff was a safe car for a baby.

No reason why you shouldn't swap for something quick with 4 seats, though!

Thanks for reply's. You can tell it's me in the street i'm the one with the double grin. Life is good. just like this site as i've only told a few people and class you lot as anonymous friends ( if you know what i mean ).
Btw we have a 214 Rover for Sally and I to goto the stables/station and are getting rid of our 94 Saab Conv. Very nice looking car, Never been any problem at all, sorry to see it going. I will enjoy this year's driving and if we have to let the Tiv go then so be it.

You ain't seen nothing yet: take your favourite moment in your favourite car, then multiply the elation/protectiveness/posesiveness by 10, and you're there...

But it's a long road, so keep your powder dry.
