The colour scheme seems to really break up the saloon shape. Wonder how it will do against the tried and tested cars.

The colour scheme works really well, however lets just hope it can deliver the goods!

I reckon Seat will be the Team to beat this year.

VX will take a while to get the Vectra up to speed and Team Dynamics are switching to the Civic for 07.

I think it looks a right mess. It is also a huge car.

I love it, but that's probably because it looks like a proper BTCC car, rather than the hot-hatch pocket rockets that have been racing recently.

I'd been looking forward to it quite a lot, hoping for the 3 series effect, but unfortunately...

Looks awful IMO. The orange RAC-sponsored WSR BMW in Autosport today looks much better I reckon.

It is a mess - too many colours in too many different places - as I said: a mess

Aye! I take it they're putting their old Integra motors in the new civic chassis then?

I'm guessing there has been some unoffical support from Honda to do this as there were some discussions about moving to a different marque to meet super 2000 regs.

Alledgedly the new Vectra is lighter than the old Astra body

Don't like the livery but I do think bigger cars somehow look better as touring cars than the smaller ones. Why have Vauxhall switched to the Vectra? Is it simply for marketing reasons?

Better aero, surprising as it may sound. The 3-door Astra suffered from poor straight line speed and was considerably more draggy than the old Coupe it replaced. The Vectra is slightly more slippery, which can mean more than you think when they only have 280bhp to play with, yet have around 1200kg to haul around.

It looks good until you get to the rear quarter panel, then it seems they got bored and put the YTS kid on for the afternoon!!

What is with the black round the rear wheel arches?!!!

Hi there,

There is a reason why the back end looks so poor.
Read this quote from a member of the 10 tenths motorsport forum.

"The car on show IS the car they showed two years ago! Then it was a 4-door saloon representing a diesel car. Since then, they have 'converted it to a 5 door hatchback' by, of all things, replacing the roof and rear quarters to be able to fit a tailgate!

The front end is still the same apart from the grille, which has been fitted with the later version!"

This might explain why it doesn't look quite right.
Although I have to say I thought it looked superb when I visited the show today.

Regards

Tim

And, allegedly, you might see some more aerodynamic "flicky bits" before the race too. Bit like DTM, allegedly
