Converting Software

[space_cowboy]

Was wondering if somebody could help me.

Is there a piece of software (preferably free) that I can use to convert pictures and videos to different formats?

Cheers

Pictures depends on the file format to and from, Gimp is free and covers most formats
Office 2003 has a picture manager if you have office.

Video, I dont know

Irfanview for pics. Does a batch convert, too.
For video, you need to know the formats you want, and be prepared to wait a long time for it to transcode. Nero does quite a few formats IIRC.

ffmpeg will transcode anything to anything virtually and is the most powerfull around. It is command line based however (but quite easy to use really)..
