Loss of Audio Mixers
Discussion
Hi peeps
Hoping i can get some advice here on a problem on my dad's pc. He's got a Sony VGC-VA1 and once booted up and running, the audio mixer seems to disappear, meaning you can't use the volume control on either the keyboard or remote control.
If you double click on the "volume" icon on the right of the system tray immediately after booting up, you get the control panel showing "master volume", "wave", etc, etc and this allows the keyboard / remote to work but if you close this down, the computer says there are no audio devices installed.
Any ideas here folks?
Oh, and it's a Sigmatel Audio Codec if that's any help.
Ta in advance.

Apart from the obvious downloading of latest drivers etc is it that the volume icon dispears after booting up? If so you can go into Control panel Sounds and Audio devices and click on show audio level on task bar. This should keep it there always then. However, not sure why you sound should stop working when its not present.
