Section 66 is interesting. Regarding the driving of emergency service vehicles above posted speed limits it says " The exemtion will only apply if the driver has satisfactoraly completed a course on the driving of vehicles at high speed".

I wonder if the training will be given to all Police Officers.

Not all, only those who are to use exemptions.

The ones who know where the vans and cameras are on their local patch probably won't need the special training either hehe

Currently when caught they all claim to be using the exemption.

Seriously though do you think this will apply to CID, panda car drivers etc or only Trafpol and other certain persons (CC's for example).

You can't tell what level people are trained to by what vehicle they drive & whether they perform a uniform or plain clothed role.

There will be response drivers in both uniform & plain clothes, driving both marked & unmarked cars of all types.

The same for advanced drivers.

Wot, 16:24 and you're back already! Still, all this tearing about the countryside enjoying yourself at warp factor who knows what, in cars that we buy and maintain for you - it must be awfully tiring. I guess you need to knock off early. rolleyes

Best wishes all, even Von,
Dave.

Presumably brought in following the number of accidents involving emergency vehicles. Also means that drivers like that transplant driver who was camera'ed.

Personally I am not particularly concerned if emergency vehicles are being involved in more accidents as I suspect most are caused by other numpty road users who either don't get out there way, or manage to get right in their way.

My guess is that more people die in fires than in accidents with fire engines therefore I would like the priority to remain that fire engines get to fires ASAP without the driver being worried about being prosecuted on route.

I would rather that scrotes who have stolen a car get caught, and if they kill themselves whilst being pursued well thats even better. If they kill someone else thats unfortunate, but is the price we have to pay to try and limit the activities of the scrotes. Yes police drivers need to exercise care and atention but not to the extent that villians know that the more dangerously they drive the more likely the police are to give up the chase.
