Anyone else cut the top of the blooming fingers off wiping the metal sill on the bottom of the door frame? Rather than "Chimaera" along it, it should say "Gillette"

Anyway, how is the back number plate attached? I had a quick shufty and could not see any screws but need to replace it.

cheers

If you can't see any screws it's been stuck on so try pulling.

My new plate is stuck over the top of the old one. You can't tell unless you look super-closely.
I debated with taking the original off too, but opted for some *cough* "no more nails"

It shouldnt pull the paint off, but if it did then presumably it would be hidden by the replacement plate.

If it pulls the paint off, there was something wrong with the paint! It's normally attached with double-sided foam tape and you're lucky if it stays on let alone taking the paint off.

I guess this depends on the vintage of your Chim. My '97 R rear plate is held on with screws. Not sure its a great idea sticking the new plate over the old one for pre facelife models as they are backlit....

Thanks Chaps, pulled it off ooer! Four strips underneath, got new "no more nails" strips and stuck it down. For the front, I am going to try and reposition it so that it gives a bit of protection to the rad from flying debris.

By the way its a 98 chim British Racing Green with little white dots all over the front, nice! Relatively new 4.6 engine, the old 4.0 gave up after a not very hard 20K miles. All bits that have fallen off or broke have been replaced and the chassis was rebuilt at the front L&R, its just been newly waxolyed and is now sitting in my garage on trickle charge, oh and its a bit dusty. Obviously it is lovingly maintained and I will not be parted with it. :0

Hi Big Pony,
Be a bit cautious of how you locate the plate on the front. The 'cooling' on these beasts is notorious for being poor so I would try not to block too much airflow from the rad with the number plate. Come the summer you could get all sorts of overheating issues.....
